| An Informative Guide to True Power- -- --- ----- ----- ----- ----- ---- --- -- - - --- - Spinning Weaves - --- - Saidar - --- - Saidin - --- - ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -- Synopsis: The Dark One utilizes an alternate source of Power, referred to as the "True Power," and can bestow access to it upon favored servants; usage is rare even among the Forsaken/Chosen. A character wielding this Power will feel an overwhelming pleasurably painful euphoria, making it far more addictive than the True Source.
Weaves formed with the True Power will always possess more force than an identical weave comprised of Saidin or Saidar, though a linked man and woman can produce equal force by working together; this is speculated to be a byproduct of the two halves resonating. There are other differences, though the most notable is that a Shield woven of True Power will consistently sap away a character's fatigue by leeching True Source.
A character holding the True Power will be able to detect when another character is holding the True Source, whether it be Saidin or Saidar, and distinguish the weaves of either with clarity. Wielders of the True Power are also able to detect one another in a similar way, sensing the Great Lord's menacing intensity looming.
The True Power is not detectable by any character that is not also linked to it, nor the weaves spun from it.
- --- ----- ----- --- - -- Notable Risk: - --- ----- ----- --- - Overdrawing; - --- ----- ----- --- -
Not only is it possible for a character to overdraw upon the True Power, in the exact same way as with the True Source and in much the same proportion, doing so has decidedly more wicked ways of manifesting; one does not simply have the ability of channeling burned out. There will always be some grand eruption of powerful channeling, spiking wildly in torrential bursts of True Power based strongly on elemental affinities.
-- Overdrawing Basis: Any channeling character is able to "overdraw" for three turns with no permanent effects, though they will be extremely fatigued and most likely rendered incapable of channeling for at least one full ICharacter day.
Overdrawing exceeds a character's "Strength of Power" by a maximum value of 50.
Overdrawing for longer than three turns will result in permanent effects, though the amount of turns will determine how severe those effects are. Ceasing before the tenth turn will either result in a reduced "Strength of Power" or having the ability to channel burned out completely; continuing to the tenth turn is lethal.
Overdrawing on the tenth and final turn boosts a character's "Strength of Power" by a maximum value of 100.
Blinded by Shadow; - --- ----- ----- ----- --- -
Overusing the True Power comes with a high price, one which most Forsaken/Chosen believe only a fool would pay without a great and urgent need, and that is a madness as bleak as the one any channeling male risks while Saidin is tainted by the Dark One's touch. This infliction will always manifest as a fanatical dedication to the Shadow, willing to do or sacrifice anything to further the Dark One's murky agenda.
- --- ----- ----- ----- --- - -- Saa Progression: - --- ----- ----- ----- --- -
A small black fleck will appear on the eyes of any character making regular use of the True Power, and these indicative markings will slowly rove across one eye and then the other in a horizontal orbit, but only visible one the eyes. Channeling the True Power will cause the Saa to rove faster, making many flecks seem a blizzard.
The First Saa; - --- ----- --- -
Any character gifted with a conduit to the True Power gets five free uses without any repercussions aside from the usual fatigue associated with channeling, but after the fifth instance has passed a single Saa will appear...
Gaining Saa; - --- ----- --- -
After gaining the first Saa, any character that continues to use the True Power will begin accumulating more based on the amount of turns it was utilized in thereafter. Each additional Saa will represent twenty five turns.
The Fifth Saa; - --- ----- --- -
Whenever a character has accumulated five Saa they will begin the transition into madness, manifesting as random flares in temper and uncontrollably violent impulses, slowly putting the unfortunate more fully under the Shadow's influence. Such characters are left completely open to the Dark One's insinuations, becoming a "dark champion" able to perform tasks that wouldn't be trusted to anyone else, despite being highly volatile.
